A French composer born in 1971 in Toulouse. A pianist and saxophone player by training, Pierre Jodlowski holds a diploma from the Lyons Conservatory (1996). A pupil of Philippe Manoury and Tristan Murail, he won the Prix de Bourges in 2000 with De front. A teacher in Toulouse until 2006, it was there he founded the festival Novelum and the studio éOle for music of today of which he is director.
At the crossover between acoustic and electronic sound, his music is characterised by its dramaturgical and political bases. Championing the practice of active music, he works on images, interactive programming for installations, stage direction and he seeks to examine the dynamic relationships of scenic spaces. In collaboration with musicians he also undertakes research into new instrument-making. His multi-disciplinary output includes dance, the theatre, video.
