Aureliano Cattaneo was born in Italy in 1974. He studied piano and composition at Piacenza and Milan and has attended courses with Gérard Grisey and Mauricio Sotelo. A recipient of several awards, in 2003 he won the “Comité de Lecture de l’IRCAM/Ensemble Intercontemporain”. In 2005 he was elected as “Stipendiat” by the “Akademie der Künste” in Berlin and has been resident composer of the Ensemble 2e2m of Paris in 2006/07. He has been awarded the prestigious 2013 Förderpreis of the Salzburg Musikpreis.
His music is regularly played at important festivals. He has collaborated with the poet Edoardo Sanguineti, with whom he wrote the chamber opera “la philosophie dans le labyrinthe” which premiered in 2006 at the “10. Since 2010 he is professor at ESMUC (Escuela Superior de Musica de Catalunya) – Barcelona. His works are published by Edizioni Suvini Zerboni, Milan.
